General description of the University
Welcome to "University of Economics and Administration in Bytom". WSEA is a non public Higher School established by government order in1996 as one of the first schools of this type in the Silesian region - Poland. It is located in the charming town Bytom.
The Institute of Economy, management & engineering of production, architecture & town planning, administration and political sciences offers full-time and weekend study programs for full-time employees, as well as post-diploma studies. The studies could last from 3 to 5 years depending on the chosen specialization and degree. The School's graduates are awarded either a licentiate diploma /3 years/ (Bachelor of Arts degree), engineer diploma /3.5 years/ or a Master degree diploma /2 years/. Graduates may then work in their chosen profession as well as pursue post-graduate studies.

Recruitment regulations
Admission to the 1st semester beginning in October does not require taking entrance examinations. All secondary school graduates who have successfully completed their final examination may be admitted. In the case of foreign students, good command of Polish is required. The admission depends on the order of the submission of the application documents.

Practical information for incoming foreign students
Language courses
Incoming students are encouraged to know as much Polish as they can before arriving, as it is the language in which they will have their lessons. As many of the teaching staff speak foreign languages it is possible to have personal tutorials. Although the University does not provide regular Polish language classes (they are available elsewhere in the town, on payment), it offers weekly tuition for those requesting it.
Accommodation
On application, accommodation (generally small apartments with either single bedrooms or shared bedrooms plus kitchen facilities) can be found through the agencies working at the University.

The ECTS credit transfer
The students study at a host university on the basis of an earlier agreement. The agreement between the home and the host university ought to define the period of study as well as the student's curriculum. The student is graded and is granted credits for successfully completed courses. After his/her return to the home university the courses completed and the credits obtained for them shall be acknowledged and registered in the student's log book (index book). The students shall continue his/her studies without losing time or credits.
The students may participate in student exchange if they fulfil conditions agreed on by the home and host universities. The students ought not to make any additional payments in the host university. The student ought not to be deprived of scholarships he/she is entitled to during the period of study at a different university. The exchange period may last from three months to one year. Only students who have completed their first year of study may participate in student exchange programmes.
The principles of credit granting at WSEA.
The
student obtains credits for successful completion of (i.e. obtaining a
positive grade in) a laboratory class, a seminar, class, lecture and
other types of classes. The student completes a given semester on
having obtained 30 credits. The allocation of credits to the particular
courses is based on the following principle:
60 hours of lecture, seminar, class = 4 ECTS credits;
The
courses ending with an examination or indicated as a prerequisite to
completion of other courses are allocated additional credits: from 1 to
3.
The basic criterion for ECTS credit granting to the student is
the expenditure of work done by him/ her, required to complete the
given course. Therefore, courses requiring a significant expenditure of
individual work, e.g. a bachelor's seminar in the 3rd year study
connected with the preparation and writing of the Bachelor's degree
dissertation.
The ECTS credit allocation is updated in every academic year.
During
the 3 years of study, before the being granted the title of the
Bachelor, the student is obliged to obtain 180 ECTS credits in total.
